Biomedical Data Science

The modern hardware and software biomedical instrumentation, in continuous evolution, provides higher and higher quantities of accurate data for doctors and health care professionals, from which more and more useful information needs to be obtained with increasingly sophisticated computer methods. Our bioengineering group has a research and development laboratory with powerful computing resources and high technological and IT skills to extract, analyze and model clinical data for diagnostic-therapeutic purposes. The services offered are:

  • Acquisition and conditioning of analog and digital biomedical signals

  • Efficient extraction, organization, processing and storage of biomedical big-data

  • Development of web platforms for multicenter clinical trials and registries

  • Consulting and planning of statistical methods for the experimental design and analysis of biomedical data

  • Sample size and power estimation for projects submission to the Ethics Committee

  • Design and optimization of models for medical decision support, based on the most advanced techniques of pattern recognition, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, artificial neural networks
